CDF is located in Dallas, Texas.
CDF is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization and depends solely on the community for funding. We hold two major fundraisers a year: a golf tournament and the Kissed by and Angel ladies-only event. Other sources of funding are individual and corporate donations and other non-profit granting opportunities.
CDF spends over 80 percent of its funding on serving families and their children. We only have one paid staff member. The balance of our expenses is for general operating expenses and fundraising.
Yes. CDF is a national organization that serves families across the United States.
No. CDF serves only families with children in the last stages of terminal cancer.
Typically, three to seven days, maximum. We understand that every day is precious to a child dying with cancer and we try to act on every case with expediency.
The Case Review Committee is comprised of nine volunteers from our Board of Directors that include business and community leaders and two pediatric oncologists from Children's Medical Center of Dallas.
One of our goals is quality of family life and enabling parents to share time and make memories with their dying child. CDF desires no credit for their efforts but would rather that credit go to the parents in the eyes of the child.
Our assistance can, and has, taken many forms. Sometimes it is an elaborate party with all the trimmings or a day trip to an exotic location. Other times it can be as simple as providing a laptop computer. Whatever the gift or wish, our goal is to enable the family and child to have something that was out of their financial reach that will enrich their quality of family life and create memories that will last a lifetime after their child has passed away. For further examples please see our Case Histories.
